Expanded Learning Opportunities

Join KBTC Kid’s weekly session with Tacoma Expanded Learning Opportunities (ELO), providing fun-filled learning infused with social and emotional development for kids in third through fifth grades. KBTC is part of a team of educators including Tacoma Arts Live, Snapology, and Vision Step Team, each working to provide a safe and supportive environment for kids to explore interests, develop skills, and work together. KBTC provides STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) learning for Tacoma ELO, in two elementary schools, Roosevelt Elementary and Lister Elementary.

In the 2021 - 2022 school year, KBTC is part of all three sessions of Tacoma ELO’s programs.

  1. Session 1 focused on Molly of Denali, a PBS Kids show that explores Alaska Native values, history, traditions, language, as well as contemporary life through the eyes of a young girl named Molly.

  2. Session 2 invited students to become expert investigators, figuring out how the world works through math and science just like the PBS Kids show Odd Squad.

  3. Session 3 brought together Odd Squad investigators alongside Wild Kratts to form Odd Kratts, investigators who explore wildlife and all of their amazing adaptations.
