KBTC and KSPS: Supporting Arabic-Speaking Communities
with Translated Learning Resources

KBTC Public Television, in collaboration with KSPS, is proud to offer Arabic translations of the Learn & Grow Together Family and Community Learning (FCL) Program. These resources are now available to better support Arabic-speaking families across Washington State.

The Learn & Grow Together FCL Program is designed to engage families with children ages 3-5 and 5-8 (as well as their younger and older siblings) in interactive, hands-on learning experiences. The program covers essential topics such as Social and Emotional Learning, Character Development, and Executive Function skills through a series of 10 workshops.

Workshop Topics:

  1. Welcome Session

  2. Self-awareness

  3. Self-regulation and Impulse Control

  4. Self-confidence

  5. Compassion and Empathy

  6. Friendship

  7. Responsibility

  8. Courage

  9. Perseverance and Task Persistence

  10. Gratitude

These workshops use creative play and exploration to introduce both children and grown-ups to learning tools that foster key life skills. Through media viewing, discussions, and interactive activities, the program helps families develop knowledge, practices, and perspectives that are essential for child development.

Features of the Program:

  • Active Media Viewing and Discussions: Families engage in meaningful conversations around media content to reinforce learning.

  • Grown-up Discussions: Parents and caregivers explore important topics like Social and Emotional Learning and Character Development.

  • Hands-On Activities: Families participate in fun, collaborative activities using media, reading, dramatic play, and art centers.

Now, with Arabic translations available, the program ensures that more families can participate in this enriching experience, supporting multi-generational learning in a culturally relevant way.

All resources include full activity plans, facilitator guides, links to related video and digital media, and take-home materials, making the program adaptable for various community settings. By making these materials available in Arabic, KBTC and KSPS are helping to extend the reach of high-quality, educational content to more families throughout Washington State.

Together, we are committed to providing access to resources that encourage family learning, growth, and community engagement.
