CHIP KIDS at KBTC:
Inspiring Young Innovators

CHIP KIDS is an educational digital series designed for middle school students, introducing them to the world of semiconductors and fostering enthusiasm for science and engineering. At KBTC, we've integrated CHIP KIDS into our afterschool programs, family engagement events, and bilingual spring camps, bringing hands-on STEM learning to children and families across our community.

Our Impact: Elevating STEM Through Relationships, Representation, and Joy

At KBTC, we believe strong educational programs are built on trust, cultural responsiveness, and hands-on learning. Our afterschool and family engagement programs create consistent, welcoming spaces where children feel seen, supported, and inspired to explore new ideas.

This year, we integrated CHIP KIDS as a high-quality STEM tool into our bilingual programming—and the impact has been powerful:

  • 150+ students engaged in hands-on STEM learning rooted in creativity and collaboration

  • 100% of students in our afterschool program participated at a district-wide STEM Fair for the first time

  • 200+ families attended STEM nights, learning side-by-side with their children

  • Educators and program staff trained to lead CHIP KIDS activities in culturally affirming ways

By centering culture, language, and joy, we’re not just teaching STEM—we’re building pathways for lifelong learning and representation in fields where our children’s voices and talents are needed most.
